F-Stop Academy
Founded in May 2009, by DOP’s Philip Bloom & Den Lennie to answer the most frequently asked question by film makers worldwide! “What’s the best camera for creating the film look?”
So they set about creating a course that would breakdown all the elements that combined allow you to create images and films that mimic the look and feel of film using your video camera.
The www.fstopacademy.com is rapidly growing into a complete online instantly-accessible learning resource available wherever you are in the world 24hrs a day, 365 days a year. Wherever you are, whatever time it is you can learn and use the resources at your own pace.

Den Lennie – Director
Den is an entrepreneur and photographer. He began his career as a sound recordist with the Reuters news agency in 1994. He then became a cameraman at the BBC where he was nominated for Royal Television Society award. From there he spent 4 years working for the Award winning London Today & London Tonight programme before going freelance for 4 years during which time he worked on numerous prime time network shows. His work has taken him to over 40 countries worldwide shooting a wide range of genres which he would still be doing today if were not for an accident whilst filming on Mont Blanc in France that forced him to retire from shooting. Since he stopped shooting has been advising and consulting with Production companies who want to embrace HD and File Based production workflows.
“The F-stop Academy re-defines learning on-line for the digital film maker.”
So often the internet as a whole can be a frustrating environment to learn from, too many conflicting views, and frankly there is no one single point of reference. In short it’s mostly opinion and all too often too many assumptions are made about your level of basic knowledge and understanding.
We set up this store to fulfill one purpose and that is to provide one destination to find all the products (other than the camera) that you need to get the very best from your D-SLR shooting in video mode.
We have researched products that we not only endorse but truly believe to be the best there are. These are the products that we use and recommend personally.
We are based in the UK.
